Modern Mona Lisa-poetrait of Karin Jurick
15x11 Modern Mona Lisa-painting Karin Jurick
I painted this portrait of Karin Jurick for the most recent challenge on her blog Different Strokes From Different Folks. It was indeed a challenge. I tried the portrait in several media and worked for two weeks trying to get a likeness. I actually never got her as she is in the picture she sent me. The interesting part of this challenge is that Karin chose to paint me. Her painting of me is fabulous. I will try posting it here.I learned a lot doing this portrait and will continue painting people.

Well never the less you did a good job on her portrait.
ReplyDeleteSylvia, I would have been so intimidated to have been given Karin's photo, but what a great watercolor you have done. Nice entry!
ReplyDeleteGreat job, Sil! Love your title! She does have a Mona Lisa smile! You handle watercolor so beautifully...glad you could stay loose and still capture her expression! Great job and I bet Karin is pleased! You Go Girl!!
ReplyDeleteSilvia - I'm hoping you'll contact me. I too painted in the DSFDF challenge that Karin so wonderfully posted and I had a fantastic idea....but it involves your help.
ReplyDeleteI'm the Jill Polsby that Karin ended up painting after my counterpart "flaked out on the challenge"......I'm polsby@yahoo.com and I'd love it if you'd email me so I could ask you a question. Thanks.
BTW: Love your painting of Karin!
Thanks to all of you great artists for stopping at my blog. Your comments are most encouraging. Ms. Polsby I am writing to you.Silvia
ReplyDeleteA nice portrait, Silvia!
ReplyDeleteVery nice work. I wondered who Karin painted. She did not attach your name to her painting until the end of the challange.
