Abstract 56

22x30 watercolors

I am beginning to get really into abstracts. I combined these two paintings . I posted the one on the left by itself, but when my teacher came up yesterday, he suggested the two go together and that I float them on the mat as he liked the edges. Glad my blog visitors are liking my abstracts. I have found my niche in art. Am having a lot of fun with these new pieces. Out of the 50 I did, about 30 worked out so far and I will be posting them. What joy.

By the Sea Remembrance

15x11 watercolor

Having spent many years of my life by the sea, I think it is ingrained in me, at least, the colors are. Using the wet-in-wet method with pouring paint, provided the means of achieving this memory.

Color Magic

This is a 15x22 watercolor.
Again I used the pouring and wet in wet techniques. I departed somewhat from my usual colors, put liked the ones I got. I combined opaques and transparents and enjoyed the pleasing way in which the water moved the paint.

Playful

I have been super busy among other things painting. My teacher and friend challenged me to go altogether non-objective and do as many paintings as possible. I completed 50 in a little over a week. It is amazing what one can come up with. Most of the pieces were done wet into wet and pouring. This painting is one of them. It is a 16x20 done in watercolors only.

Trumpets Away

9x12 color pencils on paper

Next to art music is my passion. I love Cuban and Spanish music and they both use the trumpet a lot. Overwhelmed with feeling, I painted this from imagination.

A Little Happiness

Sliding

15x11 watercolors

I felt in the mood to slide painting using wet paper. I dropped the colors , manipulated the paint by moving the support and liked the effect. I added some accents in colors I like.

Caribbean Delight

15x11 collage on paper

The effect of a net was created using cheese cloth which I glued with matte medium to the support. Afterwards I added some acrylic colors. Looking closely I saw the image of a fish. Having lived by the ocean as a child, I identify with marine themes and remember seing fish of this sort.

Yellow Fields

18X24 OIL ON CANVAS

from my heart to the canvas these yellow fields remain in my heart as memories of past springs.

Underwater Fantasy

18x24 acrylics on watercolor paper

First, I gave the watercolor paper a wash of diluted acrylics. Then I glued a piece of cloth to the support and let it dry. I then painted the cloth and added some washes. Then I added the pieces of quilting material and glued them on to the piece of cloth. I thought it ressembled the bottom of the ocean and could see some fish swimming in the current.

Song in Blue

18x24 collage on paper
I had this image in my bin and pulled it out. I had previously pasted blue and turquoise tissue paper on. As I listened to some fine music I begin to paste smaller pieces and collage them in as I felt moved to the music. I finished it by adding acrylic paint, poured, where I thought I needed to add color. A very enjoyable piece to paint.

Abstract Collage-blue forest

15x11 mixed media on canvas
This painting started with acrylic washes of pastel colors. Then I covered it with modeling pastel and after it was dried I covered it with paints of various colors poured on the canvas. After a few days I began to collage with various collage papers, a doyle and just pouring more paint in needed areas.

Abstract Collage

U worked with various media and added collage pieces. I finished by adding washes some dry and others not dry.I had already painted a background with iridiscent paints and ran a comb through the washes. This was done on watercolor paper.

Brown Abstract

12x9 Collage on acrylic paper

This work went through a lot of transformation. I did initial work in acrylics wetting some areas and not others. I then added the collage pieces and added more colors as needed. I also printed with florist ribbon and ran a comb through the wet washes.
