Song in Blue

I had this image in my bin and pulled it out. I had previously pasted blue and turquoise tissue paper on. As I listened to some fine music I begin to paste smaller pieces and collage them in as I felt moved to the music. I finished it by adding acrylic paint, poured, where I thought I needed to add color. A very enjoyable piece to paint.

Abstract Collage-blue forest

This painting started with acrylic washes of pastel colors. Then I covered it with modeling pastel and after it was dried I covered it with paints of various colors poured on the canvas. After a few days I began to collage with various collage papers, a doyle and just pouring more paint in needed areas.

U worked with various media and added collage pieces. I finished by adding washes some dry and others not dry.I had already painted a background with iridiscent paints and ran a comb through the washes. This was done on watercolor paper.

Brown Abstract

This work went through a lot of transformation. I did initial work in acrylics wetting some areas and not others. I then added the collage pieces and added more colors as needed. I also printed with florist ribbon and ran a comb through the wet washes.

This work was done with old watercolors pieces. I finished the work by adding acrylic washes and then gluing together the pieces.

Blue Abstract

I have been trying to experiment using a comb with acrylics. I had some trouble finding a comb, but I finally found one.I used watercolor paper and gave it a few washes in watercolor and then in acrylics, both undilited and diluted. This was done after spread modeling paste over the original washes. After that, I ran a comb through the washes while wet both horizontally and vertically. I then ran the comb through again after drying it a little and got the white specs. I completed the painting by adding touches of color to the spot of interest.

Lake Scene

I worked with my favorite method which is wet-in-wet and applied the washes. Not sure it is finished, but I liked the effect.

Tree Rhythms

This work evolved . First I applied thin layers of acrylics, then I spread modeling paste on the support and put some thins and thick layers of acrylic. As it dried, I looked for something that would suggest a theme. I like rhythm and saw I could turn the piece into tree rhythms.

Lavender Remembrance

I have been wanting to do this piece for a while. I took a piece of watercolor paper and applied modeling paste to the support. After the paste dried, I applied the yellow watercolor paint and then a lavender acrylic layer. I had a piece of Sumie paper that I had stained and applied it as well as some other pieces of shiny paper and more Sumie in another color. Then, I floated the piece on watercolor paper.

Another experiment. Started out with collage and thought I would do this painting using mostly watercolors. Wetted some areas and left others dry. Putaccent colors mostly in watercolors and a little fluid acrylics. Then used florist ribbon to make the dots.

I have painted this sugar and cream set various times in other media, but I decided to try it in watercolors and acrylics. I had been studying color and liked this combination.

Portrait of Rosemary

This is a painting I did to surprise my dear friend using the photo she submitted for the DSFDF challenge. I thought it would be fun to try and capture the delicacy of her fun-loving spirit and personality. I am pleased with the result and hope Rosemary will be also.

Flower Market in Sta. Clara

I was doing a color studio and decided to paint this market that I had already done in a larger format. I also decided to move the people different from where they were in the photograph, change the background slightly and put in an entrance to the flower market.

In Memoriam

I painted this watercolor of dahlias in honor of my aunt Delia who died yesterday. She was a beautiful person, a sunny personality. She had Alaheimers and it was sad to see her loose her shine.We will remember her with love.

Jungle Parrots

I discovered these image that ressemble parrots in a jungle. I used the same method of pasting tissue paper on foam board over a previous image.

I continiued to crop from the piece with the foam board and tissue paper. I thought I saw the image of a person with a hood on and cape. I liked the colors and shape.

Pink abstract

I decided to let loose and paint abstractly again. I had some color tissue paper that was attracting me due to the colors. I decided to glue pieces on to a piece of foam board that already had some images. I then cropped this part which I thought looked good.

Backyard Snow

This is a painting of my backyard during the recent big snow fall. I was intriged by the way the late afternoon light on the snow.It was indeed a very cool scene.

I painted this portrait of Karin Jurick for the most recent challenge on her blog Different Strokes From Different Folks. It was indeed a challenge. I tried the portrait in several media and worked for two weeks trying to get a likeness. I actually never got her as she is in the picture she sent me. The interesting part of this challenge is that Karin chose to paint me. Her painting of me is fabulous. I will try posting it here.I learned a lot doing this portrait and will continue painting people.
