15x11 watercolors I painted this scene for a challenge by Karin Jurick called Differetn Strokes From Different Folks. I painted it vertically and after surveying the opinion of some good artists like my friend Rosemary Sexton, I decided to re post it vertically. I like it better and had lots of fun with the subject.
I finally got a barn I like. I had taken several pictures . The scene was complicated, but I worked it out in a drawing first. I just intuitively painted the colors without regard to the photo.Am pleased with results
i look down from my house at this lane which is particularly beautiful in autumn. I have tried to paint it many times, but did not like the way it turned out. I tried it again today and like it.Today is a bright, sunny autumn day. Perhaps that influenced my mood .
This barn was an out of the way one.I had observed it and painted it during other seasons of the year. I thought it would be beautiful in Fall colors and liked the way the light hit the top of the barn.
This self portrait was done for Followign the Masters challenge, a wonderful challenge from Michelle Burnett. After many tries and coaching from my wonderful portrait painter friend, Rosemary Sexton, I obtain some resemblance of me. I enjoyed the journey.
