Sitting Pretty

11x14 watercolors

Who can resist painting sunflowers growing in profusion? Thought this was a good pose. The flower appears to be ready to be enjoyed by all.

The painting is of my dog Benji who is a living watercolor. He is tricolored and I thought the darks and lights in this photo would make a good painting. He is hard to paint because he has so much undefined hair.He is my pride and joy

This is a second of three from the Summer Dreams Series. I decided to see if the painting worked better this way than the way I originally painted it. Any opinions?

Mid Summer Dreams

14x11 watercolors

This was a wet in wet effort-my favorite method of painting. I have a bush of Rose of Sharon growing in front of my studio window. I look at the beautiful flowers every day. I could not resist painting such beauties. They are beautiful at all times of the day.

Just playing with colors. This scene reminded me of city buildings-who lives in those, what nationalities or ethnic groups.?

Thinking in bright colors

8x10 pastel over watercolors

I started this painting as a wet in wet watercolor. The washes suggested flowers.Since I have been wanting to paint sunflowers, I decided to work with these beautiful yellows. I have been looking at sunflowers in my yard all summer.

Once upon a summer

11x14 watercolors

I have always loved the sea and in particular lighthouses. The memory of trips taken to various parts of the country to see lighthouses inspired this painting.
